When they start squatting and their combs & wattles get very red, they are close.

Not very unless he's a brute.
I keep this big boy with bantams and he mounts them but they are not fertilized. He mounted the Sebright in front of him.

Post pictures of them, in focus and full body. They are a little young but sometimes it's obvious.
Thank you so much for the reply! I’ve got one laying, and I SWEAR the others are just stubborn lol.

I feel much better about the bantams. I won’t keep an abusive rooster, cause I also have kids and don’t want anyone to get hurt. But, I really really want to have a boy in the flock. My girls need some direction and protection.
