My family have raised chickens for awhile but this is the first time I'm taking lead on raising up a flock after the last of our old flock passed from old age

I have 8 hens (hopefully) they are not yet full grown and still just small enough to hold with one hand (though for the 4 oldest and largest that's just barely)
The oldest are 2 mystic marans, and 2 amberlinks (they were the oldest the store had for sale) the other 4 are black austrolorps (hope I spelled that right) 1 is a little older than the other 3 but not by much

I like the idea of having a pet that gifts you breakfast, that isn't a dead mouse

my main hobby is art and anything creative so artsy things to do with my chickens would be fun

the other animals at my house include 6 cats and a boxer, only 2 cats go outside and there is no worry about them with the chickens as one cat is a chicken cat and has taught the other not to mess with her chickens, in fact she was semi feral when we found her being all lovey with our old flock, took ages to turn her into a house cat (the 2 cats go outside because they were strays we found outside and they refuse to stay in, the rest are indoor or catio only cats)
