Heya,
I'm new here, tha ks for having me. We're moving from a house with a postage stamp yards and neighbors who call the cops for everything to a bigger property where there's already a chicken coop, so here we are, starting with chickens.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Our first chicks hatched on May 18th, since then we've added a couple more we hatched later or bought and brought some little roosters back to where the eggs came from.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Right now 6,

(3) What breeds do you have?
3 mixed race Easter eggers (2 hatched here, 1 in exchange for the 4 roos I brought back to the farm where I bought the eggs) 1 ayam Cemani I bought from a breeder who in hindsight didn't seem all that great for his animals.(all 5-6 weeks old hens), 2 little Cochin bantams who we hatched here as well and who we don't know the sex of yet. They're a week and a half old.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
They are just so dang cute! And I look forward to getting eggs!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Walking (training for a 40k race in september) reading, cooking, decorating our new home.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My husband and I have 1 daughter, no other pets than chickens. I've always worked in communication.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Just googled something and found BYC and immediately joined to ask a question about my antisocial chickie who I bought and seems to not understand she's a chicken.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

So glad you decided to join us. Good luck with the 40K run this fall! I used to participate in bicycling marathons, I loved the training and looked forward to the events. I enjoyed seeing just how far I could push myself.

Make yourself at home here and welcome to our community!
