Hello everyone! I’m new to the group and new to chickens. We’ve had 8 chicks for a week, but I think a few are closer to 2 weeks old. Or they just grew faster than the others. We also have 12 eggs in an incubator that I got from a coworker, so hopefully more chicks to come. I have learned a lot reading through post on here. I was always against having chickens because I’m scared of snakes coming around, but I’m hoping LOTS of hardware cloth will minimize the likelihood. Thanks for all the informative posts!

Chickens are likely going to only attract non-venomous snakes, and they go for the eggs. I’ve had quite a few rat snakes in my coop to get eggs, but it’s not often. So I wouldn’t worry too much about snakes unless you have a lot around you.
