Just found all the welcomes - THANKS!
My small flock matches my small suburban home in Western Australia - would love to have more hens one day - when we have a bit more space!
The current project is our 8 week old 'hen' (we hope!) Coco, who we (my 4 yr old son and 6 yr old daughter) are very attached to.
I have learned lots browsing through BYC, including such topics as
- is my hen egg bound? (she was - but no-one believed me, even the vet!!)
- How to help an egg bound hen (take her to a vet that does thorough checks - nothing else helped!!)
- Introducing a chick to the established flock - a work in progress.
Currently I am putting Coco the chick in with the 2 ladies at night, and keeping her separate during the day until she is big enough to look after herself.
Having said that she is more at home inside on the kitchen bench knocking things over.
Well, I'm sure I'll have lots of questions to ask as Coco's story evolves - but anyway, for now, thanks for the worm welcome!
