hiccups

can chickens get hiccups? it sounded kinda like my rooster, Mr.McGough had the hiccups. He wasn't crowing like he normally does when i walk out to feed them

One of my hens got hiccups regularly when she was younger. Then they just stopped, like she outgrew them. I don't know if the mechanism is the same as what causes hiccups in humans (spasms of the diaphragm) but they sound just like human hiccups.

I'm curious to know how you chose the name Mr. McGough for him. That's my maiden name, and other than family, I've never known anybody else with it.
