I recently found a source for hickory shavings from a handle company that makes handles for hammers, axes, shovels, ect and I was wondering if anyone has ever used them or has any info on this subject?I am going to use them for chick bedding, and for the hen houses floors and or runs.

I think it is just cedar shavings that are bad - Isn't Hickory a hard wood? Pine is soft but I would think it would be okay.

I would personally think hickory would be too hard. Would'nt that be like brick shavings...lol! I don't know, you could always try it and let us know how it goes!!
