June watched them, then turned to smile at him.

"It's not fair!" She cried, her voice cracking.

"And just who told you life was fair? It's not fair that animals mus give up their homes of generations for you senseless humans" Mark said 

"Senseless? Just like you we have lost our homes, and the ones dearest to us. It's you that is the heartless creature." Skye began to cry, unable to fight the urge any longer. In her words she made it seem like she was talking about all humans, but really she was talking about herself.

She splashed around a moment longer, then stepped out of the water.
Buchanan remained quiet as she talked on the phone. When she set it down he gently put his hand on her shoulder. "Carrow, if there is something you need to do I will wait."

She sat down in the grass and closed her eyes as the sunlight dried her feet.

It was the animals of Moonhaven that had lost everything and had to become human to have a place to live.
