Tanya brushed back a loose strand of hair, tucking it behind her ear and praying it would stay. She had no patience for hair in her face. With a sigh, she opened her car door, made sure everything was in place, then headed towards the stables with a content smile on her face.


There. I did it.

A rusty old pickup-truck pulled up to the ranch. A 17-year-old boy got out and looked around. It was obvious he was looking for somebody. Shrugging, he walked out to the stables. He noticed Tanya and nodded.

A blonde young woman was tacking up a young black Arabian in the stable aisle. She turned as Tanya walked by, "Hello!" she smiled and calmed the young horse who quickly grew impatient.

Tanya waved to her, smiling in a welcoming manner. "Hello!" She said.

"Are you boarding here?" she inquired, patting her horse again.

"Yeah, I have been for a while now. I'm surprised we haven't met yet. I'm Tanya," She said, putting her hand out to shake. "It's nice to meet you."

"So, what's your horses name?" She inquired, putting her weight onto one hip and looking at the black horse in slight awe. So pretty. She thought to herself.

"I call him Mika." she replied. He started forward and she turned him around quickly. "Sorry, he gets impatient. I can't even pronounce his registered name." Melinda said with a laugh.

Tanya laughed with her. "He's gorgeous. I've always had a thing for black horses. It was nice talking with ya, But I better go get my baby. He's out in the pasture grazing and being lazy, so I need to put a stop to that. See you later!" She said, waving a small goodbye as she headed out of the stables, grabbing a halter and lead rope as she went out.
