we have a guinea fowl and he keeps making a high-pitched squawk/cough noise. And he is breathing a bit heavier than the others. he also seems to be slightly less active but nothing else seems to be wrong with him.

We are concerned because about a week ago we had a guinea fowl with the same symptoms but was having a harder time breathing. sadly he passed away the next morning.

if anyone has any ideas on what is happening and what we can do to help him, please let me know!

Hi!

Sorry nobody's gotten back to you but the number of guinea owners here is far less than chickens. But, assuming this is similar to what a chicken might get, I would put my whole flock on poultry vitamins to help them fight whatever they may get or have. We use Poultry Cell mostly, and put that in their water a couple of times a week when we suspect issues. Otherwise, our feed has rooster booster granules mixed in so they're getting a boost every day. If we didn't do that, I'd be putting Poultry Cell in their water at least once a week.

Are your guineas contained? If so, could there be anything inside that they might have issues with, such as the bedding or feed?
