I'm having tons of trouble sexing this bird. I picked it up at the local shelter, they said it was a green, but i wouldn't advertise a bird as a green unless it came from a reputable breeder, so i'm just gonna say high % spalding.

Can you guys tell if its a hen or not. My male usually jumps all over new males coming in to the cage but hes left this one alone.???

Awesome find. It's a female spalding.

Indias or spaldings that have not been exposed to female greens or hi % spalding females with a lot of color sometimes are not sure how to react when one is introduced to them. Some will attack them as if they were another male.. others figure it out after a while.

You guys don't think it could be a young male. The only thing keeping me from being sure its a hen is its tail is like 5 inches longer than all my other spalding hens.

And its soooo hard to sell the males it seems like right now, everyone wants hens, but then again you only need one male to five hens! Right now shes in with my emeralds. Seems like shes getting along with them alright.
