Just wanted to post a few pictures of my birds, and their hillside chicken pen. I feed greens to them daily, from kelp to comfrey, and many types of grasses and weeds / herbs.
The uphill end of the coop is going to be a covered greens bed, feeding on it to seed, fertilize, and I am adding plant roots to the bed too. The pen is only a month and a half old, but lots of things are starting to grow in the covered greens bed.

They have, chicken ladders, roosts in the sun and in the shade, and a covered greens bed.

They are really enjoying the sun, we live in a rain-forest, so the sun is a treat.

Beautiful flock, ❤️ thanks for sharing!

Sounds like a nice setup. I'm in a temperate rainforest as well (albeit a warmer one!), so I get that about shade. But here it's a blessing that the coop and run stay shaded all summer. No kelp to be found, but I also take them greens (lots and lots of jewelweed and stiltgrass) every day. They love it!

They love their greens, mine eat grain & pellets, until they get their fill, then off to the greens they go.

Kelp, what can I say, I live a few minutes walk from the bay. Kelp looked like a good winter feed supplement, plus it is quite nutritious. The chickens love the barnacles, snails and such things. I have been feeding the bladder wack kelp.

Bladder wack kelp sounds like the name of a punk rock band.
