Hip Hip HOORAY!!!!

How long do I need to age the poop before it can go into the garden? Can I put it into a worm bin?

Are any of these jumbo a&m or just little ones? I've got limited space for raising quail and hate processing (who doesn't?) so I'd rather get them as big as possible. Am I better off raising the darker meat quail if size is a high priority to me? I only want ONE type to begin with so I don't need to worry about keeping track of who breeds who.

so like if you do side dishes 3 birds per person could be perfect!!! though since htey are mostly breastmeat (some meat on thighs too though) hubby and I enjoyed more

It really depends on how much you personally will eat i really cant help ya there...though your logic of how you plan to do it sounds about right though i can't say for sur eif those 36 culled birds will sustain you and your family until the next batch ...im horrible at math so I wont even begin to try and figure it out for you i'd just confuse you more.

Personally from what i've seen you're better off getting Jumbo brown coturnix because it's so hard finding true large A & M breeders. I havent found one yet with mondos. And i hate dark meat...and coturnix dark meat isn't like true dark meat taste wise IMO.

lilralphieroosmama has large jumbo browns

dunno about the others exactly all i know is that cindy has monsters that lay huge eggs

It helps that I'm the only meat eater -- I have five ovolactos and one omni in the house. We go through a LOT of eggs, though!!! Easily we can go through two to three dozen chicken eggs a week, so we're gonna have to have a BILLION quail to supply the family with eggs. OK, not a billion... it's 5:1 to convert recipes? If that's the case, 10 dozen quail eggs should work, or basically 18 eggs a day being laid.

As for the meat, if I have 5 quail per meal to be generous, and I eat quail three times a week, that's 15 quail a week times two months... I don't see how that'll work. But I can start by raising some and seeing how it works before committing to raising all of my own poultry.

However, other than those that you listed, there is
pop57 (who I got my original stock from)
justhatchin (who some of my other birds are from)
Teach97 (yet more birds from him, 86% hatch on eggs shipped from OK to KY!!)
Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain (she has jumbos, I got my buttons from her)
AK-Button-Mama
And I know there are more, but can't think right now

ETA: Sorry, these are all jumbo brown breeders. pop57 has A&Ms, which at about 5 weeks old, they are the same size as the jumbo browns I hatched from his eggs at the same time.
Teach97 also has some A&M, but I just hatched these, so it's hard to say how big they are as adults.
