Hippie Mom from MD building her flock!

Thank you!!! I am hoping to find someone local getting rid of an old shed for a new one, and then turning it into a coop! I saw several on this site that made me aspire to that. Especially if I can build in a little sitting area.
Make sure your bench can be folded up, otherwise you'll have to clean it up before you sit. Everytime. 🤣

Sheds make perfect chicken coops. Cut in a couple of windows, add some 2x4s for roosts (4 side up), build a couple boxes for egg laying, heck...those plastic dog crates make good nesting spots. Add some vents in the eaves of the ceiling, and boom...you have a coop!

Welcome to the coop! I use the Forums and Articles tabs at the top of the page to do research. You can get lost for hours. It's nice to know you are minutes away from getting help with questions and emergencies! I always check in the "What's New" section as well at the top of this page. This way I can read how I may have a similar question or help give some advice.

Welcome. I converted a shed after making the mistake twice of buying pre-manufactured coops. Now my chickens coop has 2-feet of roosting for each chicken -even the babies coming to roost soon - room for a brooder, and room for what I call the barred rock jail (it is a crate for my birds that keep causing problems even after dividers are put in. It is called the barred rock jail because only the barred rocks have been put into this crate), nesting boxes, and plenty of room for 2-people to sit in there.
