The Bible says that God sees the tiny sparrows fall from the trees. I know that today He was watching over my goose. It was Gertrude, the female from my original pair, the one now pictured in my avatar. She is so innocent, so sweet and dear, we all love her especially. Today my son & I walked out back right in time to see Gertie struggling with a long piece of twine that was wrapped around her neck. It was looped a few times right around her head with the other end tangled in a bush. She was flapping in panic and trying to pull it off, only tightening it around her throat.

THANK YOU JESUS for watching over her today! Thank you God for having us there right at that time! We were able to hold her still and remove the twine. And yes, to take every bit of that twine and throw it away securely, and look all over the yard for anything else like that.

I still get the shudders to think What If... To have found her strangled to death on that twine...

But instead I'm so grateful to God for having us right there at the right time to rescue her.

I post this to give Jesus the praise He is due for this, and as a reminder to myself & everyone to keep things like that out of the yard and out of reach from your birds.

There are no coincidences, just provindences.

Glag your goose is just fine. Someting similar happened to our drake and the Lord drew our attention to his plight in time. PTL!!!

What a wonderful end to something that could have been so tragic, Thank the Lord He was there for you both. I am forever finding stuff that they could eat and get chocked on so it's an on going thing here. PTL!!

I once came home to find a length of string moving through the lawn, followed it to a goose's vent and was wondering what I should do when she up and pooped again with a tiny ball of string about the size of a pea. Could not figure where it came from until it was time to feed. It appears that she pulled the string that holds the stitched paper bags closed! After that unopened feed went into the barn where they couldn't get it, and I cut all bags open with my knife.

Wow, Goosedragon, imagine that string traveling alllll the way through your goose's digestive system! Thank God it didn't get tangled & caught somewhere inside. Knowing the happy ending to the story, it does make me laugh to picture a goose with a long string coming out of its vent!

Soon after we first got our original pair of geese, Elmer & Gertrude, I started to notice things left at the bottom of the kiddy pools set up for my waterfowl. I would accuse my boys of throwing rocks & sticks in there, and they always claimed innocence. I didn't really believe them until I witnessed Elmer and Gertrude themselves picking up things to place in the pool. I didn't know that geese will nibble at anything they find, and lift & carry objects around a ways from their origin. Gertie must have grabbed that twine from the garbage piled on the driveway, it was in a coiled bundle there with some boxes left to be thrown away. She may have carried it for a while before getting herself tangled in it, we found her on the other side of the house from the driveway.

I am paying much more attention to things left in the yard, we're all being diligent now to remove ANYthing that could cause our birds harm. Again, THANK YOU JESUS!!!
