So one of my very first chickens was sick. Shes about two years old. She had that nasty vent glee. I treated her and she went back up with her buddies. Now i was putting my chickens away earlier and noticed she makes like a hissing noise...or like air is escaping when she poops. What causes this? Is it from what she went threw or what? She seems fine.

I also have another bird i have in a dog crate by herself. Somehow she got a hole pecked on her middle toe down to the bone. Not alot of bone is showing but a little and theres a decent size crevice of missing skin. I tried super gluing it (ive done that with previous wounds like head pecking) but either she or her pain in the but buddies pecked it open again. So i bought the blue kote or whatever and have been spraying it daily. Shes by herself. How long do i keep her away from her flock. She seems miserable alone.

Btw im on my phone so sorry for any typos. I tried googling the hissing issue. All i got were how to cook a chicken...SO NOT WHAT I NEED LOL.

Google usually helps but tonight it wanted me too cook my poor chicken. Its almost like the sound a balloon makes when it leaks air. Its like it comes out befor her poop. I mean if shes just making noises idc. I just want to make sure shes ok. Im tired of my babies being sick.

Sometimes google is just wrong. Does she look like she is in pain? does she wince or react when she poop's?

Your hen is probably passing gas from her intestinal tract. Are you certain it is not her voice you are hearing? The chicken with the toe problem could be caged with the flock members for company--just carry her cage to the coop and then put it outside when the rest are out. Or you could put a protective dressing on the toe and let her out. I would probably use some betadine or neosporin ointment on the toe.

henny penny the one whos making the noise when shes pooping doesnt seem to be in pain. just was concerned that she was making the noise when pooping.

the blue kote has antiseptic or something in it. i have to keep her down where i can keep an eye on her. since shes a butthead and likes to knock over her water container. not good with the hot weather we've been having here in cali.
