Oh my that is horrible. Sounds very fishy. I hope and pray they find out what exactly happened. And lock them up and throw away the keys.

A good friend of mine was riding his horse home late one night, probably slightly drunk. Don't know if horse slipped and friend fell off or what happened. But my friend was laying in the middle of a highway and was struck by a truck. A 2nd truck pulled off the road, but before he could render assistance, another truck driven by a 17 year old girl hit him again. The worst part is that his son was the responding EMT. He recognized his dad's horse who like a good cow horse, was standing on the side of the road, ground tied. The only thing he saw of his father was his boots before the other EMTs steered him away. Just a bad deal all the way around.

So yes, it can happen. Driving 70 MPH in the dark, not paying close attention, yes it can happen.
