Wow, that's terrible.![]()
I'm in SE Mo It's probably too far to be practical.... aren't there any chicken rescues? There otta be! This is a horrible year for weather, you can't be the only chicken farmer in need! How can we help?
I’m so sorry! I’m located in north Ga, but I can’t go that’s far south. I would spend some good time with them to help them recover. After doing some reading I learned that chickens can get depressed after losing other birds. They’re not probably missing their friends and might for awhile. Just give em lots of love and I hope you find a good home for them!
How horrible! I can't even imagine the stress and trauma you had to go through...and your poor chickens, too! Hugs to you, and hopes that no such thing ever happens to you again!![]()
I do not advize moving them IF you can care for them still. They likely still have Memory of what has not changed, such as you. Moving them, especially if they are divided, will make them further freaked up.
You must be in terrible shock! And the chickens too, I suppose. I hope you and your home are okay. Good luck from Vermont . . .
Sorry that happened to you, and I hope that everything work's out for you over there!
So sorry to hear about the tornado and you loosing most of your flock! I wish you luck re-homing them or helping them get back to "normal", which ever you choose.
Thank you all for the concerns we are all happy to be alive!!most the flock actually made it but we could not get anything built till after about a week after it happened(happened on March 3)they especially arnt happy bc they have had to be pinned in with are male duck which is not working out for our hens and are 1 roo bc he is attacking the duck..we had planned on getting lucky our duck some female friends soon and do ducklings but I need these chickens to go some where better second option is building a portable run for them and letting them free range two hour before bed so they go right back in there run..reason I would be free ranging would be so they get a little more space to roam outside of there portable run only problem is I would not keep the roo with the hens bc that would lead to over mating he is separated from the flock right now till I figure out something...I am SO SORRY to hear about the tornado, but I'm happy to hear that at least some of your birds survived. It's understandable that they aren't behaving normally, yet. They're probably in shock mode ... kinda like people are after a disaster. Are you giving them electrolytes and vitamins? That should help them recover quickly.
If you post some pictures in the "Buy~Sell~Trade" or "Animals in Need of Free Re-Homing" forums, you may get better luck. There should also be a State thread you can post under.
Good Luck, all the way around!
