My name is Temmy and I'm already a victim of chicken math.
I'm from SW PA and live on a small farm which includes Hubs, cows, pigs, goats, cats, dogs and now chickens.
I've been asking Hubs for chickens for years, but he was always too busy to help with the set up. This year I sort of forced the issue. My sister-in-law (who already has chickens) is housing my chicks until I can move them home in a couple of weeks.
I am also waiting for a shipment of new chicks around May 28. All total, I'm looking at 25 chickens (if all goes well).
If the weather holds, I should have my 10'x16' shed installed next week (crossing fingers and toes). We have a REALLY old (probably 50-60 - think shingle brick covering), run down coop already, but it needs a lot of work. Perhaps when chicken math strikes again, I can force Hubs to fix that up...
Then the fun begins!
This site has been very helpful. I kind of get a deer in the headlights stare when I try to explain my excitement on facebook.
Obsessed at this point doesn't really cover it exactly.
My sister-in-law isn't the only family with chickens. My sister and niece have them too and love them.
I'm typically quiet and reserved, but right now I just can't contain myself. I'm looking forward to being part of the group.
-Temmy
