Hiya, have grown up round chickens but only just started with my own. Have currently 4 on a city block, Pickles, Thyme, Sage & Dill.

I just love watching the chooks chook. It's super relaxing.

We bought a pair of quails today, going to try our hand at breeding them! Hector n Hillary. We are going to modify our chook coop to integrate them. Just need to try and sort out our crow problem first as they are getting in and stealing the chook eggs.

Have used BYC quite a bit for info but finally signed up.

Would love to have some ducks but need our own place with a bit more space first!

Welcome! :frow
Your coop looks very nice! Lovely birds too, never had quail myself, how fun!
If the crows fly in from above, a textile bird net might do the trick.

Yeah they just walk up the ladder the same as the chooks in the door. The nesting boxes are down the bottom of the shed and they are super brave. We are going to put a mirror in there as I've read that might help. We don't leave scraps out any more so there isn't food for the crows to scavenge but our neighbour puts her scraps straight on top of her garden so they are attracted to that unfortunately. I've thought about netting it but it's a big area to put a net over.

Be careful quails r escape artists and can jump and fly every well.ive had ones escape from a 6ft enclosure before and the crows could very easily kill them when u c what they can do to chicks and ducklings of similar size on internet videos. So definatly try covering the area even with a cheap fabric netting

Yeah we are going to enclose the ground floor of the coop for the quails so they can't jump out.
