So glad to have found BackyardChickens.com! Raising chickens is new to us and it has been great to find help here! We have a bunch of chicks right now (about three weeks old), and a bunch of young hens and two roosters (about three months old). We had 8 cornish x rocks and lost two on an extremely hot day, and butchered the other six a couple days later.
My biggest concern right now is making some more shade for the flock. I really want to plant some perennial climbing vines, but everyone seems to recommend grapes. I have two German Shorthair Pointers and don't want to risk them getting sick from eating the grapes. Any other suggestions? I love hummingbird vines, but can't seem to find out if they're safe or not.

Hello and welcome to BYC

I've never heard of that vine, but why don't you do a google search for non-poisonous plants and vines? If your chickens are like mine they will probably eat all your grapes!

Hi and :welcome

Glad to have you here. I agree with sumi, your chickens would probably eat the grapes. :lau (Although it is nice for them to have grapes as a treat.) I don't know anything about vines. Sorry. Perhaps you could try in the gardening section?

Good luck!
