Hmmm cockerel or pullet and is this a black sexlink?

So 5 weeks ago my husband snagged 8 barred rock pullets at 50 cents each. I soon noticed one was not like the others....no white on him/her except a bit on chest. I posted another thread and it was thought to be a black sexlink. Now I’m concerned there is a lot of red goin on comb doesn’t seem to be getting bigger. I hope it’s a pullet...I named her after my sister. I’m enclosing pics of when she/he was younger and some face shots of the RED from today. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I would say it is a black sex link, so that means it is a pullet. the males would be getting their barring in now. The comb just seems to be a bit red for a pullet but imo nothing to be worried about.

Not a Black sexlink,young chicks are all black till feathering around neck comes in, it’s a pullet.

Thanks folks! Making me feel a bit better lol I was just concerned of the red already my other girls much older aren’t red or have the wattles underneath yet just the boys. I told my sister I can’t eat her I may hepave to get more hens if it turns out to be a cockerel lmbo

Sexlinks are bred to mature fast and start laying young. So that's why the combs develop early. Combs can flush red/pink for many reasons.

That’s great she has been bigger then the br pullets and I wondered if the red was her maturing faster. My 2mo. Old chick just started getting pink (aside from the cockerels) at what age around do the black sexlink begin laying? I know they all vary and I’m not finding much info on laying age for them

Typically Sexlinks will start laying around 4.5-5 months of age.

Thank you everyone....my fear of naming a pullet after my favorite sister and it turning out to be a cockerel has been lifted! (All our chicks r dual purpose so we intended on the Roos going in freezer) I seriously couldn’t imagine eating a chicken named after my sister! I named her bc she is much like my sister...black sheep, etc. a bird of her own feather....and my sis has red hair so the start of red around the face still makes it fitting hahaha
