hmmm.... really "show quality?"

Very true. I have had people ask me if all my birds are show quality. I tell them I can enter them into a show and none will get disqualified, but some probably wont place at the top of a class or at all. I will not keep a bird in my barn with a disqualification.

Dont get me wrong, I am absolutely PASSIONATE about purebred poultry, almost to the degree that I am obsessive about it, I wont even cross varieties....

But the basic fact of the matter is that EVERYONE is always going to have an opinion about my birds, your birds, and everyone elses birds. What works for one, isn't going to work for another.

But in the end, the only thing that matters is if YOU are happy raising them and caring for them..... If you want to take your long backed, small crest, off color bird to the show, then take it! As long as all of its parts are there, and it isn't DQ'd because its missing a wing or a leg, then its "show quality." Like I said, it just may not place.

(and that last statement is in know way my opinion of the birds in question... i know nothing about D'uccles... I just know that the emphasis is always on "SQ")

i might but the female hasnt started laying yet and if you wanted pure breeds i would have to seperate them from the rest of the flock and hope that te male starts being more fertile. but if i do that i will be sure and let you know. and remember porcelains stink at being fertile! but i will sure try for you!

I didn't know porcelains had a problem with fertility, thanks for the bit of info...Learn something new all the time. Is it the male? Or has that not been decided yet?

I don't know if the standards are the same on the coloring for other birds but here are my two female Porcelain Dutches
The lighter one(on top) is better with coloring than the darker one which is actually almost solid gray.
Hey SpeckledHen here are some with no feathers on the legs...hehe
