Ho,ho,ho it’s 24 below....

My Flock is just fine. Thought we might take a breathe from the polar vortex panic for second.. Carry on with your normal activity!
What everyone finds so cold and horrible is a pretty normal winter around here. So while the country is panicking, and apparently everyone will freeze to death, here in Wisconsin we carry on, and drink beer. My chickens are tough.

We have 'latitude attitude'...haha!
I still cringe at the neg temps tho...watching some of the birds suffer from it.
Sustained ten below is hard on the birds. I lost a few cockerels to it, they weren't even looking bad the night before... would have got them indoors had I known. :(
I would have culled them next spring anyway, since there isn't much room for wussies here, but freezing is a pretty horrid death & one I don't want for even the meanest of roosters.

Even sustained singles and teens we've had has been hard on few of mine, underlying issues tho probably. Others seem almost totally unaffected. Lost one pullet(brought in a day or two too late) and brought in another for 3-4 hours under your 'reset' theory(thank you) which worked. Gave her and all birds a dose of savachik, perked them all up.
