I live in Henderson Nevada and I have 5 chickens . I have 2 silkies and 3 Americana. They are 2.5 years old and the silkies are 1 yr old. I am so sad that my HOA (Home owners association)send me a letter today to get rid of my chickens!!. Is there anyway I can fight this, or even keep 2 of my favorite (one silky is disable, i guess thats how i see it :( she was born with crisscrossed beak). What do I need to do?

You'll need to read your HOA bylaws. Does your HOA disallow members from having chickens (might be defined as livestock)?
I just read the city ordinance is it is allowed to have chickens. I guess its the "HOA LAWS" dictates it is not allowed !!

You would have signed a copy of the HOA rules when you bought the property or signed a lease. You would have known the HOA rules before getting the chickens, so I am confused why you got them in the first place, unless you simply did not pay attention to what you signed? Your choices are to move or give up your chickens. Sadly, HOA's rarely if ever allow poultry. And typically, they only allow cats or dogs and they put limits on how many you can have at a time.

Well this is a sucky situation! Too bad youndidnt ask around before getting them, have you had them for long....also im from Ct..not sure if tou live in an apartment or renting a home.. sorry for my ignorance
