My hen cackled for the first time this morning after laying here egg. Since then, she has been hoarse. When I noticed it, I promptly took her out and gave her a check up. No wheezing, nasal drainage, or sneezing. Checked her throat and didn't see anything suspicksus. Can a hen get hoarse when they first start cackling? Or, is there something g else I need to look for? Thanks a bunch!

Can you post a video of her? upload videos to youtube or similar platform, then provide us a link.

How long did she cackle? I've had pullets and hens cackle and sing the egg song until they became hoarse sounding.

If she is active, eating/drinking, has no respiratory symptoms, then put her back with the flock. Even if she has a respiratory disease, the others would be exposed.
Just listen to her for a couple of days, if you notice any further symptoms then investigate further.

Thank you so much! I couldn't get a video because she was being shy when I took her away from her flock mates. All day she stayed active and ate and drank. I will recheck her in the morning. Hopefully all that loud cackling just made her a little hoarse. She's in bed now. I appreciate your response....
