One of my red sexlink hens has developed a barely audible raspy voice and she has her beak open most of the time. She appears to be healthy and, I believe, is laying. However, today she seemed a bit lethargic. She is about 18 months old and my other 7 hens, about the same age, show no symptoms of this. Anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Sounds like she could have something stuck in her throat. Try massaging the chickens throat to feel if there is anything in there. I have had this happen to me before and this was the problem for me.

Feel of her crop first thing in the morning to see if it is empty, full, soft or hard, or puffy. A crop problem could be possible, or as said previously, something could be stuck in the throat. Another possibility is a respiratory infection or fungal disease such as aspergillosis, from moldy conditions. Look for any watery or bubbly eye, nasal drainage, sneezing, or gasping.See if she will drink some water with electrolytes.
