Hog attractant for pig escapee?

Use betadine or chlorhexadine to clean the wounds as good as possible. You can squirt it in to the wounds with a syringe. Very easy to find one or the other in any pharmacy section of the grocery store or farm stores. I personally don't like using neosporin and if it's possible to wrap or cover a wound I prefer sugardine. A mix of betadine and sugar packed in to the wound and then covered. The sugar holds the betadine so it is slowly drawn up in to the wound. When you uncover the sugar will be white again. Sometimes it's not possible to cover a wound since it's in a bad location to wrap and too much hair/dirt/grease to tape. That's the only time I consider things like neosporin.

WooHoo! I'm glad he's home.

If you put up pictures it could help us get a better feel for what you're up against.

As for the feed, pigs are omnivores, they can and do eat meat products in the wild. That said, I can't think of one good reason to feed him dog food. He's not a dog. Get him a good mini-pig feed, you can buy it right at TSC.

Disinfect the wounds the best you can... wash them out .. whatever...
Bring him to the vet when its cheaper on Tuesday..(after the holiday..).
Unless its real bad... I'd need a pic to know...
But pigs wounds heal SO quick... its scary creepy....
its why they use pig skin in human skin grafts;.....
Post a pic ASAP..

ETA.. although..if he got attacked by a dog.... he needs meds ASAP cause dog bites/puncture wounds can go DEEP... and fester fast..

So I cleaned him up again yesterday, trying to get it better for photos too. I could clean more into the holes this time, and they are really deep! Like height of a quarter, deep. Filled with dirt, pus like dead skin/dirt, just awful. I cleaned and got out as much nastiness as possible and then let him rest. I went to go back to take close up photos of it, and they were already halfway closed up. One of the holes, like a pen sized hole, not too deep, is already closed up and almost gone!
He's healing really fast, eating good, he might be okay!

I'm still worried about the one right beside/maybe under his ear, i'm afraid it did some damage. He won't flick that ear when he hears weird noises and his eye on that side has some red in it. That hole is one of the deepest and most pus like.

His left eye, where the huge hole is behind the ear, is not as red since earlier today. I can't really see the whole eye though.

He has a ton of purple bites, i'm guessing, maybe from being outside for two weeks? But they're purple...

He's OFFICIALLY got his squeal back, as of 5 min ago! Full on ear drum busting/here comes the butcher squeal!
His eye is not as red from what I can see right now, the one where the very deep nasy hole is right behind or under the ear.

He deserves to be taken to a vet.. have you done that yet? That one wound looks infected and deep...

That big chuck of skin that's like a massive scab sticking out, that was part of what I 'peeled' off of him when first cleaning him up. I believe he had a layer or so of skin across the whole back of his neck that was coming off, atleast that's what it looked like. I pulled off a pieces of skin/hair/dirt. Then under that was okay/regular skin.... really wierd. I'm guessing he kind of shed a layer and the new was ready? Anyways, that mountain is not movable so I just worked around it.

Do you think it will slowly just fall off? It's the only part of him that doesnt seem to be changing...

It was a holiday today and I am planning to take him tomorrow if he needs to go.
The white stuff is not pus, it seems to be skin. I tried to pull it out but it's definitely not moving so I figured it is fresh skin trying to close the wound?

I'm talking about the deep puncture wound with the pus (or whatever..) in it..the one behind the ear...
Thats the one i'd be worried about..
I believe that he needs a vet and meds..
but its your pig.. Do what you feel is right.
Good luck with the poor guy!
