i have the option of getting a few hundred pounds of hog feed in exchange for a few dozen eggs. the feed is from a guy how gets it from a mill, rather than mass-produced. it is mostly corn, with some vitamins and minerals added. does anyone know if it is ok to feed this to my chickens? i know i will have to make extra sure to have oyster shell available to them, but what other than that?

Not knowing the formulation of the hog feed, I probably wouldn't feed it to them as their only feed. It could be lacking something they need (methionine, for instance), or have too much of something else... Maybe as a treat or snack in addition to chicken feed it would be okay.

You don't wanna feed chickens to much corn because is gets them to fat and it could make them not lay as good because of all the fat around there egg hole
