Holding a chicken leg will it hurt them

I have caught the odd nasty chicken by the legs, tried other ways but was the only way I could get hold of them without getting torn apart, I don't believe it does them any harm, however I wouldn't catch them by the wings, they are much more fragile and could be hurt a lot easier, i have never seen a bird handler use the wings. I am not an expert though so others may disagree, f I am wrong I will stand corrected. :)

when u go to catch a chicken and u hold it by the leg is it good or is bad and how about the wing

well,
i think the best to catch a by is chicken holding its body but if
you have got both the legs it should be fine and if it squirms while you are holding it
then holding its legs will not hurt them at all if i have a cheeky choocky i hold its legs
and if it goes to flap away it can't!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now with the wings i definatly would say
no dont catch by the wings the are fragile just like Vicky2479 said i definatly agree with
them.

I grab them around the top of their bodies, holding their wings down with my grasp. I use two hands. My girls are friendly, though, so I am not sure if that is the issue. I would think catching their legs would be hard to do.

Not with a fowler's crook.

If I have to pick up my friendly girls I do the same as crchickens, they make it easier by squatting when I go to touch them but if I have one that is intent on NOT being caught then legS it is.

For Game birds they use a leather strap around their leg to tether the cockrels. If you have birds that dont like being caught the easiest way is to grab them by both legs. that way you dont get scratched or pecked in the process. Then you can get a hold of them around the body so they dont flap around. Thats what I do to catch my banties.
