holding chicks

lol.. I'm an old farm gal.. So I'm used to handling and catching critters (just slowing down a bit in my old age)

though I can still carry at least 6 roosters at a time...

I am thoroughly impressed with six. Two is the most I have done, though I think I could make room for three in a pinch.

I know of some boys who can catch and carry up to 10 meat birds at a time.. they get paid for how many they can catch so they have gotten good and FAST!

They will usually carry them by one leg (the birds are headed for the processing plant.. so they aren't too concerned about being "nice").. I prefer to loop my fingers through both of the roo's legs just to keep from dislocating a hip..

edited to add:

I wouldn't advocate carrying an emu by the legs.. unless it was smallish and already dead...
carrying a live one by the legs would certainly be asking for leg issues.. which none of us want with our emus!
