Hey guys! My dad told me to remove my eggs and mark them with the date and mark each side, keep them turned and when i had as many as i wanted to hatch then place them back in the nest for the hen to set. He said all would hatch about the same time that way and by marking them i would be able to keep them seperate from newly laid ones. I was wondering if this really works? I have kept them in my laundry room so they would not get too cool and after today i will be ready to put them back under her. Will they really hatch out if they are fertile...im almost positive they are because my rooster jumped her several, several times. Thanks yall

That is the best way to do it. You can't count on every egg to hatch, even under a broody, but many have a high hatch rate this way and yes, some will hatch out 100%. If you let her sit on eggs from numerous days lots of times after a couple days worth hatch she will abandon the nest to take care of the little ones. It also depends on how long you collect and store eggs as to how good of a hatch rate you will get and the temps that they were stored at. (You don't want them getting too warm either.
