Our chickens are about 3 months old and we frequently held ours until somebody harshly told us that handling or holding them will lead to no eggs or egg laying due to "stress". We were bummed but I had never heard of this so I needed to clarify. Please post experiences, please help :(.

that is not true i dont think because i know people on this forum who have chickens that want to be held 24/7 and some people hold theirs all the time and they still lay eggs and where did you here this from.

A neighbor who is very stuck up and thinks sh knows everything about chickens because she grew up with them. Thank you for the reply in the back of my mind I knew it wasn't true.

ya dont worry like you said she is stuck up. well nothing to worry about now its o cause my chickens get held ALL the time if you need me just PM me!!!!!! good luck with your lil ones

If our girls did not get held they may quit laying eggs. They love to be picked up and expect the attention. Sounds like your neighbor is talking about something she knows nothing about. Think about all the chickens 4-H kids have and how much they are handled ... they keep laying =)

All the best and enjoy the time with you chickens

Well, if you were out there every day chasing your birds around the run and grabbing them up, freaking them all out, then sure, they may not like to lay much. I highly doubt that's what you're doing, though

. Calm gentle handling is fine for pretty much animal, they'll still be productive.
