Holding poop??

They won't, break that habit asap.
Really? Shoot. Right after mom disowned them, they used to all sleep in boxes, and now it's usually only 1-2, so I was really hoping as they get more confident, they'd stop completely. I've tried pulling them out to stick them on roosts after dark, but they freak out and scream and get everyone riled up. By by the time I've grabbed one, another 2-3 have retreated from roosts into the boxes. :idunno

Good to have a separate roost for the youngers.
Cover the nests an hour before roost time,
uncover after dark when you lock up,
or at first light for the layers.

There are 3 roosts, but they're starting to mix in more now that they're so close to real chicken sized.

You're right, I could try covering the nests. Good time of year to do it, when hardly anyone is using them for their intended purpose. 🙄
