Holding Silkies

Hey, everyone! My husband and I are relatively new to chickens. I'm just now feeling comfortable picking them up and holding them (yay!). However, we are awaiting two silkies, and I'm nervous about holding them because they'll be smaller than our RI Reds. Is there a difference in how to hold them?
Any advice is welcome, and thanks in advance.

Be aware - that sometimes silkies and RI don't mix well. Are you planning on keeping them separate?
