I just now saw this on FB .. a totally "recycled" chicken coop. Check out the various pieces they used...genius!

Thanks, everyone, for your lovely replies!

But I have a question...looking at that pic closely I don't see how a human gains access to the dang thing....anyone????

Yeah, you'd want to make a human gate in the mesh.....and use hardware cloth instead of chicken wire to predator proof it.

Yes, using hardware cloth would prove much more sturdier. But as for the gate, which we know it needs, how would you cut through that galvanized cattle feeder?? Wowzers, that would be tough! And being the 'ol senior citizen that I am, I'm not about to 'climb' over it!

Angle grinder with a cut off wheel....or maybe that's not the brooder for you.

Skinny person fits through the doggy door. What are the chances of finding a old satelitte dish the exact size to roof a water trough??? That was pure luck.

I hope that is only a brooder that will be housed in another building or they won't have those chickens for long if they have raccoons around. They (coons) will go through that chicken wire like butter to get to those chickens.
I've seen it too many times.

They can probably just make it so a section of the chicken wire peels back to gain access for cleaning and chick herding.

My problem is with my RA I wouldn't be able to straddle the dang thing to get in! LOL!! Neat general idea though don't you think?
