Oh yeah! I almost forgot , and you may already know , but I wanted to mention it anyway - if you want really big onions you'll have to pull the soil out from around them once they start " bulbing" in (probably) mid to late june. I always pull enough off of mine so that the entire bulb is exposed with only the roots covered with soil. Otherwise the soil keeps them from getting big. The last couple of years I've had some softball size onions!

You've given me some great tips!! Thanks so much! I'm debating as to whether or not I will plant more onions. They sent a total of 250 seeds. We don't just sit and eat onions but I do cook with them frequently.
