Holy &^%$ That Noise Scared Me!!

I went to let the chickens out this morning and heard an awful noise coming from the coop!! I ran over and opened the doors. With a flashlight, I checked on everyone to make sure noone was being injured...because that was the first thing I thought of since I've never heard this before! I soon realized it is my cockeral CROWING! My daughter says he sounds like a kazoo!

It sure gave me a scare though.

Lol! I love the horrible crow of the young cockeral! They're so terrible when the start, my step daughtes said one of mine was broken

LOL, when my 9 week old Delaware brothers started crowing, I called them The Kazoo Band. It really does sound like a kazoo!

I went running to my coop with a 12g in my hands when i first heard mine. They are so FUNNY!!!!!!!!

give it three weeks and it will be music, uh... i mean screaming to your ears!

I thought there was a coyote in the coop, I ran out there into the coop and seen this silly rooster crowing his little heart out. Unfortunantly he still sounds like that!

I bought some Marans chicks hatched in May.I had them in 2 chicken tractors in my side yard.Live in town on small lot.Anyway one morning I started hearing an odd noise I couldn't identify.I was sleeping on the couch 2 stories up from the chicks but on the side of the house the chicks were.I've never had many chicks and never thought about it being one of those 9 wk olds.I kept listening but was very puzzled.Then I remembered where I had heard that sound before.When I was a little girl Santa had brought me a baby doll.She had like a small tin can in her with holes in the bottom and after I had her for a long time,(ya see if you would turn her upside down and then right side up she sounded somewhat like a baby crying)her cryer had gotten really bad sounding.I never thought a little chick would make me think of a baby doll I had so long ago.
You know that little chick became the crowingest thing I've ever heard.He wanted to be top cock and was mean to the others.I was so glad to see that boy go.

I once had a rooster named Wanda because he made the same noise as the character Wanda from the show, 'In Living Color'. This beautiful mutt howled just like she did!

LOL! That must have been what my little leghorn was doing this morning... I thought he was sounding some sort of battle call of attack because I was spending too much time in the coop (doing a minor repair).
