Home insurance canceled

I live in a high fire danger area and I have a plan with a major top rated company that I would not want to lose. That company is no longer writing polices in my area and none of the top companies are. My investment property is with a state run plan which is fire only. I would NEVER call and ask about the chickens and invite an issue. As much as I love my chickens if they told me its either the chickens or the insurance the chickens would have to go. I would move them to my vacation rental and play up the fresh egg angle!

I'm actually very glad to know this because it saves me a ton of trouble. I'm already having a terrible time getting the new place insured being as it is an old mobile home like 70's old but still in great shape because my mom owned it. Now though knowing my six ferocious hens and my bloodthirsty roo will definitely sink my already shabby boat i will have to find other options.

My HO's is underwritten by Traveler's. I was initially declined b/c an inspector said all sorts of wild things about the property: Things were present that weren't; things that existed were absent. My roof was "missing." I had no idea about the chooks, though. I'm saving $$ by going through my auto insurance company. Time to shop around, I guess....

Surprised I am. Man came out and took photos--including one of the ladies as they got treats. I fully expected to get a denial. No problems at all--even with that missing roof

I would like to tell all the BYC people about Progressive Insurance canceled my home insurance because I have chicken and rooster . I call and told the lady that my chicken were not attack chicken but she said that was there policy no farm animal .So if you have progressive don't tell them you have chicken. Looking for insurance DK

Check to see if you have any consumer protection laws in your state that will protect you.

If Progressive has this policy nationwide, maybe we should start a boycott! Chicken people unite!
