I'm hoping someone has experience with converting a fridge to an incubator. I have a nonfunctioning 'apartment size' fridge, interior dimensions 14"x14"x27" and am wondering what size element, fan and thermostat would work best in it. Hoping anyone with experience doing this type if conversion could give me some suggestions. I purchased a 5"x5" 12V computer fan and a digital thermostat/temp controller off ebay that allows me to set limits. (Resolution is 0.1 degree C. Accuracy is +/- 1.0 degree.) Is that size fan adequate? Planning to use additional temp/hydgrometer in the cabinet as well.
Since the internal measurements of the cabinet are 12x12 inches I need to come up with my own automatic egg turning unit as well. Any thoughts, suggestions on that would be welcome as well.
As far as the heating element goes I'm wondering if the GQF 250 watt setup is too much. What about one out of an old stryo incubator?
I'm hoping to come up with an incubator that is more reliable than the styros and not nearly as expensive as the larger "sportsman" types.
