Home-made Incubator: Is It Really That Complex???

So, we just hatched 9 of 10 duck eggs using a broody hen and decided we were hooked and wanted to try again though we felt Ms. Hen needed a rest! My husband built an "incubator" but after reading all these posts about PC fans and wiring, etc... I am wondering if it really needs to be that complex or will ours work?

He made a wooden box and attached wire for the eggs to sit on. He had made a top out of plexiglass with wooden sides but we had trouble getting the temperature up through the top so we just took it off. They are under one heat lamp and we're keeping the temp. at 98. With a humidifier and a cookie sheet of water under the eggs, the hygrometer measures 50% humidity.

Many people can hatch eggs from a card board box, with a clamp light. Usually the newbies will do something really simple, or buy one of the cheapo styro foam incubators from the feed store. You can get high success with a light and a box, or the foam incubators, but it is a headache to have to check on ALL the time. After you've got the hatching bug after your first hatch, you may do a few hatches in this incubator, but you will see other incubators, and will want to vamp up your incubator a bit.
