Home-made Incubator Problems?

Before now, I never knew that water on the eggs hurt them... that must have been what did it O.O Wow wow wow- okay. I am in the process of building a new incubator out of a heat lamp and styrofoam cooler and water reservoirs and towels on the bottom. I will position the eggs as close or near the heat until it is the right temperature. How should I position the heat lamp -above, or to the side?

Dont put them right by the light, thats where the temp will be the highest. to the side would be more out of the way but you really need some kind of small pc fan to move the heat off the bulb and around the incubator.

Okay! I never realized the fan was that important with temperature control. If I have time today, I'll go buy one, along with a hygrometer. :) Thanks for the ideas!
