Home-made roll out nest boxes

I’ve just finished my latest project; roll-out nest boxes. Hopefully no more dirty eggs. What do you all think?

I’ve made these out of 12mm ply and cost me about £35 all in and about 3hrs of my time. The sloping trays can be removed or flipped over in the event I get a broody. I lined the boxes with offcuts of artificial grass. Just gotta wait until my new (much bigger) coop arrives before I can try them out They’ve got approval from the cat!

Brilliant! Great job. I have lots of projects that could use your carpentry skills. I just finished my chicks 'growing on' brooder, 3 ft x 6ft, 3/4 inch plywood with hardwire cloth and front opening gate thingy but I am TERRIFIED of the circular saw and the hubby was away so all the wood was cut with a jig saw....... you can imagine how straight the cuts are cant you!

That is awesome. I love that design. You are truly talented. Your cat looks just like mine. Mine is a female with a 1/4 length tail. So have you started building the cat bed yet?

Thank you. He is a British Blue. Are they called British Blues in USA too? I made his bed a couple of years ago from white oak and pine... he spends hours asleep on the top shelf, much to my surprise! But my OH tells me I need to make the cat another toy as the cat will feel left out! (It’s meant to have a hammock on the dowels at the top but I’m not too good at sewing and never got round to it )

We found her in an overcrowded cage in a pet shop, someone had left them in a box outside the pet shop overnight. A surprise for the owner who was giving them away. She is the most affectionate cat, and loves attention.
