I opened my loft for the first time yesterday to let my 5 that were born here fly. One never left, one came back in about an hour, one in about 5 hours, one today, 24 hours later, & one never showed back up yet. It was like watching the dog on the movie "Funny Farm", once in a while, we'd see one cruising by, only to dissapear again. For you Pigeoneers out there, can you tell me the colors of my 3 youngest?

Blue check, blue bar, and blue grizzle. How old were the birds you let out for the first time? The older they get, the more excited they may be when you let them out for the first time. They'll be good at flying, and may stray too far before they know the area. We call them "fly aways". Definitely not always with birds you get from somewhere else. Many are those you breed yourself.

The birds released were born here, on Dec. 4th & 12th of 2010. they are 11 & 12 weeks old. One that flew was 5 months old, & she returned in about 5 hours, which is good. She has egg responsibilities to share! Thanks for helping me on color.
