My dad is making a homemade cabinet incubator with three shelves and a hatcher on the bottom. Where should he put the water pans for humidity? Does it matter if they are on the top or the bottom of the inside of the incubator?

heat rises, so you should keep the pans at the bottom. That way you have a more consistant distribution of humidity.

I have no idea but the sportsman's have them on the top with the hatcher on the bottom. I wonder if it make a difference....going to follow this post.

Where are the fans on the sportsman? Are they up by the top? I suppose that would make better sense.

I have several cabinet incubators and the humidity pan is always at the top with the fan blowing over it. I am not certain that it needs to be at the top, but am quite certain that it is important that the fan blow over the water pan.

Yes it is also at the top with the fan behind it blowing across the water as greathorse said. Hope this helps.
