I'm making homemade chicken food and notice there are many recipes that use use kelp meal/fish meal. I contacted North American Kelp company, and they test for mercury in their kelp/fish meal. Can anyone here look at this test and tell me if this company's kelp/fish meal is safe to use? Thanks!

Hi Bob. Welcome to BYC.
The report states that the kelp meal has detectable levels of arsenic and mercury in it.
Thanks for the reply DobieLover. Most of the articles I read about homemade chicken food suggests adding kelp meal or fish meal to the recipe. Then there are comments made that suggest NOT putting in fish meal to the feed as it contains mercury. What is the best way to increase the protein content of homemade chicken food. Presently I'm using corn, wheat, oats, flax seed, split peas, sunflower seed, and diametacious earth. These are ingredients I can find locally.
