OK, how did you do that so fast?!?!

When exactly did you sleep? You made a coop in 10 days It looks really nice and I like those nest boxes. Are you going to paint the inside? I read a lot of recommendations for priming and painting interior for ease of cleaning.

(And, I must be the only one on this board who doesn't have a master carpenter in the family. It's OK though, he did finish our last-minute run in the dark during a snowstorm

Thank you! I'm very proud of it.
We actually built the orignal (first few pics) in three days just in the evenings. It helped that we were racing thunderstorms and impending tornadoes. We started on a friday about 4pm and by sat at 11pm we had it at my house by sunday at 4pm we had the roof on and the girls inside. I work 7-3 so we had very few daylight hours. Luckily I have amazing friends and family (and a nephew who was being punished for getting kicked out of school. HEHE).

I am going to paint the outside today (red w/black trim) and try to paint the inside when we have nice day and i'm off. I have to lock the girls out because of the fumes.

The nest boxes were made yesterday we had sunshine and I couldnt resist. My 7 yr old was an amazing help.

So I should not be allowed around power tools. Since I borrowed my sisters SO's tools I have'nt stopped building. My girls were pecking so I decided it was time to expand their run. I added three feet x nine feet by using items i found in my yard. I had a 12 ft 2x6, four 2x4's, a few railroad ties, and about 25 feet of used chicken wire. It's hideous but it's mine and barely cost anything.

Oh yeah and I painted it.

I covered it with deer netting that was 15 dollars for 7x100ft. Only used like an 1/8 of it.

That is really sloping like that. We don't have a flat place in our whole 4 acres.

Here's the girls enjoying their new yard.
Tell me what you think. More to come. Always expanding.

Oh and I am still going to paint the windows and a few other things black. Adding a 4x6 brooder/infirmary/breeder coop to existing.

I don't think it's hideous, I think it's practical and inventive. You took good care of your chickens by finding a way to build what they needed, and did it within your means. Nothing to be ashamed of!
