Right now I have all chicks (ages 4 weeks to 9 weeks) so they are still on the chick starter. My questions are:

1. Once they are old enough to eat regular feed, can I make it myself somehow?
2. Is there a recipe somewhere?
3. What age do you switch to you make the switch from starter to regular feed?

Not sure what you are going for, but here are a few recipes I was looking at making.

There are a lot of different recipes online. It's up to you what age you want to switch. My birds are pretty much all on the same feed from day one throughout their lives. Make sure they have grit available if you switch to a feed that has not been milled.

I am not currently making my own feed. For it to be economical I found I had to buy in larger bulk than I was able to for such a small flock and everything had to be shipped (expensive) because there is not somewhere I can buy bulk grains locally.

Currently I usually feed Purina Flock Raiser. I have ducklings (not laying), a drake, adult duck hens (laying), adult chicken hens (laying), broody hen (not laying). So it works for everyone.

Additionally, for us, the Purina mill is local, so I am supporting local economy as well as getting fresh feed. The mill date is generally fresher than other brands in my local feed store.
