homemade feeders by RendonRoo

RendonRoo again I want to thank you for your tremendous idea on these hopper feeders. I spent my weekend installing them onto the pheasant pens (which I will send pics tomorrow) and then I got some installed in my silkie pen. Wanted to get OH's in as the birds are out side and it was not raining yesterday so I could get them in and get his turkey pens covered up (tarp) for the winter.
I worked in my silkie pen installing these feeders. I did not get them finished but hopefully tonight. I put one 3" for crumbles and a 2" for oyster shell or grit depending on pen. I kind of which I had gone with 2" for the pheasants but for what it cost the 1 1/2 will have to do. I put caps on his but did not on mine since its inside. I just put a plastic bowl over the ones in my silkie pen to keep the dust out.

The pheasants took right to it. And my silkie juveniles did also. But the layers were a bit concerned with what was in their pen.
I can not believe how nice and neat my pens look now.. instead of the trough feeders that they were standing in.

Thanks again .. and will show pics tomorrow.

cjexotic, so glad these are working for you. hope others will try them too. Thanks for the update and looking forward to pics.

yes, more pics please. My ornery husband (I spoil his fun with all the wisdom I glean from this list) wants to do it himself without consulting any pics and barely listening to any of the considerations such as...don't want them roosting on it, need to keep it out of the rain but the right height for the birds etc.....he does so like to learn things the hard way so I would like pics for when he realizes he needs some advice.

Here's my version of the PVC feeder idea. I'm using two of them in the coop for scratch and layer rations. I filled the bottom with sand and punched holes in the bottom to allow for water the drain, God forbid water should get into the feeder!

Thanks for the great ideas everyone!

PS. The pieces are just pressure fitted together, No adhesive/glue used. This way I can pull it apart and clean it out anytime I want!

here are the pics I promised. I have put in 12 in the pheasant pens and I have gotten my white, juvenile and partridge pens done so far. Still have my pen of splashes, and b/b/s to do yet. 2 in each (one food, one grit or oyster shell) depending on the pen. I got 1 1/2 pipe to do in the baby pens. Will do that this weekend. Also included pics of the babies in the baby pen they looks so cute and was wondering why I was not taking pics of them. lol
