homemade hatcher/brooder construction advice needed

Take the water heat thermostat out of the sardine can. I suspect the can is effecting the stat by sheilding if from the heat. The waterheater thermos will probably adjust down to around 90*. Forget trying to keep the thermostat close to the eggs, it wont switch on and off fast enough to maintain a perfect temp. By placeing the thermostat closer to the heat source, it will cycle on/off faster because the heat rises faster and cools off faster next to the heater. The actual temp the thermostat works/cycles might be much higher than the heat needed, but by cycleing faster, the rest of the incubator will keep closer to the actual temp desired. Measure the actual temps at the egg level, not at the thermostat, and adjust the thermostat until the desired reading is achieved.
